Our mission here at Making a Difference is to make a difference in our world. One way we do this is by helping our clients meet their basic needs though our resource cabinet. We keep various items such as food, clothing, school supplies, and hygiene products for our clients in times of need. We help many families who cannot afford these items due to various reasons. This cabinet is made possible only by donations from the community. You can receive a tax write-off letter for donations by including a note with your name, address, and brief description of what was donated and approximate value. Donations can be dropped of at Making a Difference, Inc., 502 W. Randolph during our office hours. Details of what we need/accept can be found below.

Thank you for your generous donation!

Kid's GoPacks

This summer we are fighting hunger! Over 70% of kids in the Enid Public School system are on free or reduced lunch programs. These kids will not longer be provided with breakfast and lunch throughout the week during summer break and Making a Difference, Inc. is doing something about that. GoPacks will be available for children needing a meal throughout the week. GoPacks consist of an easy open meal, a grain, a fruit or vegetable,  100% fruit juice, and an encouraging note. These GoPacks cost $2 to create and we can only do it with your help! You can currently donate at Deco Pizzaria & Bistro located in Downtown Enid, or here on the website. Thank you for fighting hunger and making a difference!

Food Donations

We keep a small cabinet with non-perishable items in our cabinet for children and their families with emergency needs. Most needed foods include meals in an easy-open can (stew, chili, soup), tuna and canned meat, canned food with pop-top lids, instant dry milk, 100% fruit juices, canned fruit, Canned corn and green beans, and meals that only need water added. If you have perishable items you would like to donate you can call Kristynn at (580)233-5900 to see if we currently have someone who needs it or could give it to the kids in our group program for a snack.

Clothing & Shoe donations

We accept new to gently used children's clothes ranging from size 5T to 14/16 (XL). Our biggest need is jeans, socks, and tennis shoes. Due to lack of space we do not currently accept adult clothes other than X-Small and Smalls that a child or preteen could wear. We also accept new to gently used children's shoes, new (still in package) underwear and socks and new to gently used jackets, coats, hats and gloves.  If we receive clothing we cannot use or store, or receive clothing with stains or tears, we may donate them to a thrift store or dispose of them. The beginning of the school year and when seasons change are when we see the greatest need for clothes. It is amazing to see how much a new outfit can do for a child and their self confidence!

School supplies

Our most needed school supplies are backpacks. We accept new to gently used school supplies such as backpacks, lunch boxes, folders, binders, rulers, calculators, pencil boxes, etc. If an item is ripped, broken, or has a lot of writing on it we will dispose of it or donate it to a thrift store.

Hygiene Products

We keep hygiene products for kids, teens, and their parents. Most needed products are kids and adult tooth brushes and tooth paste. We also accept new shampoo, conditioner, body soap, lotion, deodorant, razors, pads/tampons, chapstick, dish soap, laundry detergent (small packets/boxes), etc. Hotel shampoo/conditioner/soaps are great for go bags for teens and adults who are either homeless or "couch hopping." Thank you for your generous donation!
